| No Time for Marketing?
When you have absolutely no time to even think about marketing, working smarter instead of harder is the key.
Time
Online marketing -- websites, blogs and social media -- are taking huge amounts of our time now and we love it. But if it feels like there is no time to think about your marketing it's well worth cutting back in this area. An hour a week spent on strategy is worth 10 hours spent online.
Smarts
In marketing we keep trying until something works. What marketing was the most effective for you in the past? How can you replicate that success? Is there a reason you stopped? And in business we we keep working (smarter) until we succeed. Are you actually open for business -- can you handle the business you wish you had? Does the prospect of success excite you or fill you with dread? Why? It's an age old question but an important one.
Relationships
What promises do you make while networking? Promise to call? To connect? To do something for someone? What happens if you follow through on this promise? Do you build trust? Or do you feel it's a useless waste of time?
Expo 2011 was about networking and B2B connections. It was about starting and building relationships. What kind of relationships do you need to build for your business to be successful? Short term or long term? Are these relationships built over days, weeks or years? Where do they start?
What does successful marketing mean to you? The sale? Or a connection that leads to a business relationship? Which perspective feels better and puts energy in your game?
