Formatting Fonts and Stylesheets

About Stylesheets

The text formatting of your site is controlled with a stylesheet. The stylesheet tells the browser what the text should look like for regular text as well as each heading level, and for linked text. Stylesheets are the most efficient way to insure the formatting of your site is consistent across all pages.

Formatting Text

To format text, choose from heading levels or regular text from the formatting pull down menu. Use the bold, italics, and font size and font face buttons sparingly to call attention to text, but not to format headings or large blocks of text.

Backing Up

Backing up your pages is your responsiblity (content only - we back up the format). Our server is backed up but hourly rates of $150 plus restoral fees apply for restoring MCT Website Content Manager data from backup.

Keep a Copy!

Storing a copy of your pages on your local computer is a smart move. Simply copy and paste from your website to your computer (Word, Notepad, any word processing application will do). In the event that you delete a page by mistake or some other error occurs, it will be easy to restore your content.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Fonts

The fastest way to remove all formatting from text, especially if it's been pasted from Word and contains Microsoft HTML tags, is:

  1. Copy and paste your content from the screen to Notepad.
  2. Click the <> button to go to see the HTML code and delete everything from the page.
  3. Click the <> button to go back to WYSIWYG mode.
  4. Copy and paste from Notepad to the screen
  5. Format as desired.

Troubleshooting Styles

  • To make changes to your stylesheet, contact us. Let us know what colors, font faces, and font sizes your heading levels, normal text, main menu and sub menus should be.
  • If you are having trouble applying styles, check your code (the <> button) and make sure you have applied or removed heading tags as required. Heading tags are:

    ,

    ,

    , etc.

  • Normal text should be enclosed in

    tags

    .

Troubleshooting Images

There are two ways to insert images on your website. Both methods automatically overwrite a file with the same name:

  • Upload a file using the Insert/Edit Image button and link to it from your page.
    • If your file upload doesn't work, try renaming your file and uploading again.
    • Your file may be too large. Try reducing the size of your file and try again.
  • Upload an image for a Sub Menu using the Insert/Edit Image button
    • The uploaded image is sized automatically. To change the default size of all sub menu image files, contact us.

Troubleshooting Login

  • Insert "www" after "http://" in the url of your address bar and click "go".
  • Enter your username and password and click enter.
