Berkeley
People come from all over the world to visit, work, and live in Berkeley. We have world class education, research, arts, restaurants and ... in Berkeley you can be yourself. You can think and believe what is true for you. You can buck the trends, you can invent the future, and you can find your voice.
We have a long history of stepping out in front of the crowd with progressive ideas that later become mainstream. Today, everyone has to step out -- whether you're in Berkeley, Washington D.C., China, or India. There is work to be done and it can't wait.
There is important work taking place in
We, and every other city, will need to lower its collective carbon footprint and this means understanding the long term effects of our actions, both small and large. It's necessary to recycle both at home and at work, but it will take much larger steps, bigger sacrifices, and stronger commitment from all of us to support the leaders in our communities who understand and can make the needed changes come about.
Think about it -- going green can't be confined to our recycling bins. Look around and find the leaders in your own community who you can support, be they scientists, politicians, city planners, or simply clear headed thinkers who keep this problem in the forefront. There is much to learn and do, and very little time.
