Malaga Smith was born in Malaga, Spain in 1960. She has lived in southern Spain and various US states, and has lived in San Francisco bay area for most of the past 37 years.

Her career path has taken her through Commercial and Asset Based Lending, IT, Telecommunications, Graphic Design, and finally, Marketing. (Her studies were focused on accounting and finance, then on IT certifications.) She started a web development partnership in 1995, which morphed into Malaga Corp., a small but growing full service marketing firm in Berkeley. As the president of Malaga Corp. she manages the business and provides much of the creative work, including graphic design and copy writing; but she also enjoys programming and database work, being equally "left and right brained".

Malaga raised 4 children in Berkeley, and is blessed with a granddaughter and a large immediate family living locally and in Oregon. She is active in the Berkeley Chamber of Commerce and the East Bay and Sacramento business communities.
